Veil
Fabric of Light

Introduction

As part of The Gaslight District’s first art and music festival, The Creative Trip, we were asked to bring light and creativity to the entry way, setting the stage as visitors entered the event. The unique architecture of the building lead us to attempt one of the largest overhead interactive installations we’ve completed to date.

Summary

Veil consists of three large fabric-like structures, each spanning 90 feet long and 10 feet wide, that are draped 25 feet in the air across a large open area, creating a vivid ceiling of light. Over 3,200 individually controllable LED spheres allow us to generate dynamic patterns of light in real-time, visible from all directions. This unique design allows for guests below to feel wrapped in light while viewers in the towers above can watch the mesmerizing patterns bring the streets below to life.

Veil’s modular design allows us to re-organize the piece to bring different spaces to life, while still maintaining the visual affect. Veil can be reorganized to create one large piece, or multiple small pieces – hung overhead or on it’s side against a wall.
